Efficient Dust Control

Dust control is not only a vital necessity when it comes to your employee’s health, it is also important to your companies bottom line.

With that in mind, why is efficient dust control important for all aspects of your business?

Employee Protection

First and foremost, above all else, dust control is about protecting those that work with it every day. The operators are one of the most valuable assets your company has, so protecting them is vital. Not only is it the moral thing to do, but you have a legal obligation to do so (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).

Dust can cause lung cancer, respiratory issues, asthma and even silicosis. These are all worsts case scenarios but are possible if you do not have an effective dust control system in place (especially if there is silica in the dust – which affects the skin and lungs, in particular). Pharmaceutical workplaces can also have harmful substances in the dust such as dust, hormones and narcotics.

Loss of productivity is the least of your worries following an illness caused by failure to remove dust from the workplace, you could face quite serious legal action. So, it is vital that protecting employee health – no matter your business industry or size – is one of the cornerstones of your business.

Explosive Substance

Metal, wood, lactose, cornstarch and other commonly found dust all have the potential to explode. If this dust is allowed to come into contact with an ignition source, the results could be catastrophic, even fatal.

As such, dust extraction is essential to avoid a devastating incident in your workplace.

Sustainability

Part of having a sustainable business is ensuring that what you produce is not harmful to the environment. Dust is a product of industrial activity which, as a contaminant, can be a seen to be a harmful emission. As such, filtering air and removing the dust is vital in order to ensure the environmental impact of your company is kept to a minimum.

Minimise Downtime

Downtime is never good for the bottom line of your business. Time, after all, equals money in the workplace. Productivity falls for both your machines and workers when a workplace is clogged up with dust. Not only that, but dust can also shorten the life of your machinery if left unchecked and increase maintenance costs.

Keeping your business clear of dust, then, is actually profitable in the long run. As you can see, dust control is vital for all aspects of your business. Both for employees, the money you make and the environmental impact you have on the world.
