In the UK, energy prices are reaching an alarming rate, and our responsibility to reduce pollution, global warming and any other environmental implications has reached an all time high. It’s important as a business owner to consider all of the different possibilities and practices that will save your industrial company save energy and money for the foreseeable future. Being more considerate about how much energy your company is using, can reduce carbon emissions and save on utility bills.

 

HVAC:

Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling can account for a whopping 30% of your company’s energy usage, so it’s important to ensure that you select the most ergonomically designed system, completely suited to your building. Using these systems may be a requirement safe working conditions, but as a necessity, it is equally important for you to ensure that you are using them wisely. Getting a tailor-made ventilation system will ensure that you are getting the most energy saving and economic version of a system. Be sure to turn these systems off when the building isn’t facilitating any employees also.

 

Energy saving light bulbs:

Energy efficient lighting is the direction that the majority of industrial companies are turning to, as this proves to be both cost-effective, but also reduces a company’s carbon footprint. When selecting lighting for your building, be sure to consider the quality of lighting that is required, how much lighting is needed, the location of your chosen lighting and be sure to turn off the lighting where and when it isn’t needed. Some companies find motion activated lighting to be the most effective and energy saving option.

 

Motors and machinery:

Running motors and machinery in an industrial factory uses the highest percentage of energy and costs the most. Without these machines, industries would not be able to make their money, so it’s a catch 22. It’s important to be wise and think economically when it comes to machinery. Machines should only be running when they need to be, and should be turned off at night to save energy and reduce the running costs.
